Obtaining
Funds
for a
VOICE
start-up
Relaizing
the
importance
of
diversity
in
veterinary
medicine
companies
such as
Pfizer
Animal
Health
and
various
other
entities
provide
funding
that
supports
organizations
such as
VOICE.
Through
a
generous
grant
from
Pfizer
Animal
Health,
new
VOICE
chapters
will be
awarded
startup
funding
for
chapter
events.
Financial
assistance
may be
requested
from
many
sources.
It might
be
helpful
to speak
with the
president
or
treasurer
of a
current
club at
your
campus
and
discuss
with
them
registration
of your
VOICE
chapter
with the
university
and
access
to
different
sources
of
funding.
It is
also
important
to set
up a
bank
account,
whether
it is
through
your
school's
accounting
office
or an
outside
bank.
Often
there
are
general
university
funds
available
for
student
groups.
Graduate
Professional
Student
Activity
Funds
Committees
generally
takes
budget
requests
from
student
groups
and
disburse
funds
based on
the
activities
the
group
has
proposed.
Usually
these
activities
are ones
that
appeal
and are
open to
the
entire
university
community.
Many
alumni
associations
allocates
funds
that are
disbursed
to many
veterinary
students
clubs
upon
submission
of a
funding
proposal.
The
entries
are
evaluated
and
funds
distributed
accordingly.
Organizations
and
companies
often
provide
funding
via
Office
of
Student
Services.
VOICE
has also
works
closely
with the
Office
of the
Dean and
the
Office
of
Multicultural
Affairs
to
secure
funds
for
hosting
speaker
events.
These
speakers
serve to
augment
our
education
in areas
not
covered
by the
curriculum
but
important
in the
development
of a
well
rounded
veterinarian.
A good
way of
reducing
costs is
to
co-host
a
speaker
with
another
student
organization.
The two
clubs
can then
split
travel,
lodging,
honorarium
and
other
costs.
Finally,
it is
VERY
IMPORTANT
to make
sure to
acknowledge
those
people
or
companies
that are
making
your
event
possible.
Make
sure
that you
include
the
name,
logo,
any
slogan,
or
contact
information
in any
advertising
related
to the
event.
Use
statements
such as
"Sponsored
by,"
"Made
Possible
by,"
"Brought
to you
by," and
"Presented
by."
